About Mieken

In my early 20s, I was first diagnosed and began treatment for depression and anxiety – a journey I continue on to this day. At the worst times I found myself unable to work (or even get out of bed some days) and felt like there was nothing to look forward too. By exploring and combining western medicine with natural therapies and eastern philosophies I was able to emerge from the lowest points and found myself with a new purpose and direction.

I realised that I that I wanted to use what I learned through my own experiences to help others so I resigned from my stable, comfortable government job and began studying Kinesiology.
Before I could complete my certification, I developed severe obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) which culminated in one afternoon where the 1.5 kilometre drive home from the supermarket took me 4 and a half hours.

After that, I decided it was time to get help and I reentered treatment to learn to manage this new challenge.

In learning to deal with my OCD, I had to learn a completely new way of thinking about myself and the world and it is this new mindset that cemented my purpose to help people learn the skills to make the changes and transformations they want for their life.

In my work, I combine the learnings from my personal journey with the many powerful techniques found in Kinesiology to help people make transformations on a body, mind and spirit level.

Whether you want to make positive change in your life, health, relationships or business I love to help you get clarity around your priorities, break through the obstacles that are holding you back, create (and stick to a plan of action to get there) and pass on the skills and strategies I use so that you can continue to create your own best life into the future.

My areas of interest

Anxiety and worry

My own experience with anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder has given me a particular interest in helping others who deal with excessive worry in their life.

I love combining the wonderful Kinesiology techniques that help relieve stress with the mindset tips and tricks I have picked up through my own journey to give people practical coping strategies they can use beyond the consultation room.

The voice and singing

Returning to singing as an adult has been one of the most rewarding and joyful experiences of my life. As I explored how to use my singing voice and developed my confidence as a performer I found that I also found my voice as an individual across all areas of my life.

Working closely with experienced vocal coach and performer Yani allows me to help people who want to find their voice in every way possible.

Positive mindset change

By far the most significant part of my recovery from OCD has been learning to completely change my mindset and thinking about most areas of my life. And experienced first hand how changing the way I think contributed massively to my health and wellness.

It has also been an immensely rewarding part of my work to help others find new ways of thinking and to see the positive changes they have been able to achieve in their lives as a result.
