Consent & Participation
Mieken Falkenbach Holistic Healer
Purpose of This Page
This page explains how consent and participation work when engaging in services with Mieken Falkenbach Holistic Healing. It is designed to support transparency, informed choice, and collaborative care for adults, children, and families.
Consent
By booking and attending a session, clients (or a parent/guardian where applicable) provide consent to participate in holistic healing services and for relevant personal and health information to be collected and used in accordance with our policies.
Consent is:
-
Voluntary
-
Ongoing
-
Able to be withdrawn or modified at any time
Clients are encouraged to ask questions, seek clarification, or pause a session if needed.
All new clients are required to complete a Confidential Health History & Consent Form prior to their first appointment.
Nature of Holistic Healing Services
Sessions may include one or more of the following modalities:
-
Kinesiology
-
Holistic Counselling
-
Guided Meditation
-
Energy Healing
-
Reiki and intuitive energy healing
Holistic healing is a collaborative process that requires active participation. Clients remain responsible for their own health, wellbeing, and decisions.
Holistic healing:
-
Does not diagnose, prescribe, or treat medical conditions
-
Does not replace medical or psychological care
-
Is not a substitute for advice from a qualified medical practitioner
Where needs fall outside the practitioner’s scope or experience, clients are encouraged to seek support from an appropriately qualified professional.
Participation & Self-Responsibility
Clients are encouraged to:
-
Participate actively in sessions
-
Communicate openly and honestly
-
Ask questions and provide feedback
Where appropriate, suggestions or practices may be offered for use between sessions.
Clients are asked to avoid excessive alcohol or recreational drug use for 48 hours before and after sessions, as this may affect the effectiveness of the work.
Children & Young People
We aim to balance parental involvement with respect for the developing autonomy, privacy, and participation of children and young people.
-
Ages 0–12:
A parent or legal guardian is required to be present in the room for all sessions. The parent or guardian provides consent and may assist with participation. -
Ages 13–18:
It is preferred that a parent or guardian is present in the room. The level of involvement will be discussed collaboratively between the practitioner, the young person, and the parent or guardian, and reviewed as needed.
Decisions regarding participation and information sharing are approached thoughtfully and on a case-by-case basis.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Personal and health information shared during sessions is treated as private and confidential, unless:
-
Consent is provided for disclosure, or
-
Disclosure is required by law
Information may be stored electronically or, where necessary, in paper form. Electronic records are preferred and stored using secure systems, including Cliniko and password-protected digital platforms.
De-identified and anonymised information may occasionally be discussed for professional supervision or development purposes. No identifying information is shared.
Full details are outlined in our Privacy Policy.
Telehealth / Online Sessions
Telehealth sessions are offered via Cliniko’s secure video platform.
Clients (and parent/guardians where applicable) are responsible for:
-
Ensuring a private, quiet, and safe environment
-
Having appropriate technology and internet access
Consent for telehealth is required prior to attending the first online session. While secure systems are used, electronic communication carries inherent risks.
Communication
We may communicate with clients and, where appropriate, parent/guardians via email or SMS regarding:
-
Appointments
-
Forms
-
Administrative or session-related information
By engaging with our services, clients consent to receiving communications via these methods. Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
